AT&T U-verse is AT&T's fiber-optic cable TV, digital phone and high-speed Internet service line. There are currently (as of October 2011) one residential gateway and one wireless router branded for use with AT&T high-speed Internet service. There's the 2Wire DSL gateway model 2701HG-B and the Motorola Wi-Fi business router model 3347. Similar to a router, the gateway is a device used to connect multiple Internet-ready devices to the same network. To change the settings on your AT&T U-verse gateway or router you must access the device's graphic user interface.

Step 1
Go to the primary computer in your network. This is the computer the gateway was initially hooked up to. It is connected to the gateway with an Ethernet cable.

Launch the computer's Web browser.
Step 3
Type "192.168.1.254" in the browser's address bar. Press "Enter" to open the gateway's user interface.
Step 4
Modify the gateway's settings to suit your preference. For example, to change the device's network name (SSID) and security key (WEP), go to the "Home Network" tab. Click "Wireless Settings." Make your modifications.
Motorola Netopia 3347
Step 1
Go to the primary computer in your network. This is the computer the router was initially hooked up to. It is connected to the router with an Ethernet cable.

Launch the computer's Web browser.

Type "192.168.1.254" in the browser's address bar. Press "Enter." If you are prompted to enter a user name and password, type "admin" in the "User Name" field. Type "admin" in the "Password" field. Press "Enter" to open the router's user interface.
Step 4
Modify the router's settings to suit your preference. For example, to change the device's network name (SSID) and security key (WEP), click the "Wireless" link. Check the box next to "Enable Wireless" (if prompted) and make your modifications. Click the yellow triangle in the top right corner. Click "Save and Restart."
