Even the best TV (and the Sharp AQUOS series is very good) can be improved by beefing up the original audio speakers. Connecting a set of external speakers or an all-in-one sound bar is an excellent way to improve audio performance and it isn't a task that requires any specialized electronics knowledge or expertise. Even the novice can have the speakers set up and operating in a very short time.
Step 1
Locate the audio output on the back of your television. This will be a pair of RCA audio jacks, labeled "audio out" on Sharp AQUOS televisions.

Step 2
Plug one end of your powered speakers' input cable into the television's audio output. Speakers designed for use with televisions will have a cable with a pair of RCA plugs on the cable. Simply match the colors to the output jack colors and push the plugs into the jacks.
Step 3
Position your speaker(s) by your television. If your system has a pair of speakers, place one on either side of the television. If you're connecting a single sound bar-style speaker, place it in front of the speaker.
Step 4
Connect the other end of the speaker's input cable to the jack on the speakers. This may be an RCA jack or another variety, depending upon the brand of speaker.
Step 5
Plug your powered speakers into a wall outlet or power strip. Turn the speakers on with the power switch.
