A portable document format, or PDF, file format allows you to share documents on computers running Windows, Macintosh or Linux operating systems. The content, layout, fonts and graphics in your PDF document will look similar when you view or print it in different systems. The compression and resolution adjustment of the images in PDF documents reduces the file size. By converting a PDF document to a lower resolution PDF file, you can significantly increase its display and transfer speed.
Step 1
Click the "Start" button in Windows, and then click "Adobe Acrobat Professional" to open the Acrobat PDF editor.

Click "Open" and then double-click on the PDF file that you want to convert to a lower resolution.

Click "Advanced" on the navigation menu, and select the "PDF Optimizer" option.

Choose "Images" in the "Preset Settings" section of the window.

Enter "72" in the "Downsample" fields of the "Color Images" and the "Grayscale Images" setting boxes.
Step 6
Click "File" and choose "Save As" from the menu. Click "OK" to convert your PDF document to a lower resolution PDF file.
