As CDs and DVDs are being phased out, media is being converted to a number of digital file formats that are compatible with a wide range of devices, including cellphones and dedicated media players, such as the iPod. While special conversion software is needed to convert the VTS files stored on a DVD into MP4 files, no additional hardware is needed. Because of the way the converter programs are designed, users with a modest amount of technical ability can complete the conversion process successfully.

Step 1
Download and install the VTS converter and launch the converter from its installation location on the computer's hard drive.

Click the "Browse" button on the main screen and navigate to the DVD containing the VTS files.

Press the "To MP4" button at the top of the screen to set the output file format to MP4. Click the "Browse" button adjacent to the "Output File Name" heading to choose where the new MP4 file will be saved.

Press the "Convert Now" button to complete the process of converting the VTS files to the MP4 format.
BUP VTS to MP4 converter
Step 1
Download and install the BUP VTS to MP4 converter.
Step 2
Launch the converter from its installation location on the computer's disk and click the "Browse" button to choose the VTS file to be converted.

Click the "To MP4" button at the top of the screen and choose the device that will be used to play the MP4 file from the "Profile" drop-down menu.

Click the "Convert Now" button to convert the VTS files to the MP4 format.

Download and install the converter software directly from Koyote.
Step 2
Launch the program from its installation location on the computer's hard disk and click the "Add Files" button in the top left corner of the main screen. Navigate to the VTS files that will be converted and place a "check" in the box next the VTS file.

Select "MP4" from the "Output Format" menu at the bottom of the main screen.
Step 4
Click the "Convert Video" button to start the conversion process.
