The aspect ratio used to shoot a video program determines how it will play on your television. You may prefer not to see the black bars that surround a program shot in an aspect ratio that does not fit properly. Fortunately, JVC designs their televisions with an aspect ratio control function that manipulates how video is displayed on the screen. There are three different methods for adjusting the ratio.
Step 1
Change the aspect ratio with your remote control by pressing the "Aspect" button on the top-left corner of the device. Each press of the button will display a new ratio. The settings will change in the following order: "Panorama," "Cinema," "Full," "Panorama Zoom," "Cinema Zoom," "Full Native," "Regular" and "Slim."

Step 2
Switch the aspect ratio using the television by pressing the "Menu" button on the side of the television. Highlight "Display" by pressing the "Ch +" button, and then "Aspect Ratio" by pressing the "Menu" button. Press the "Vol +" button to bring up the list of different aspect ratios. Choose the aspect ratio you want to use by highlighting it with the "Ch +" button and selecting it with the "Vol +" button.
Step 3
You can also set the aspect ratio from the video menu by pressing the "Menu" button on the remote control and highlighting "Display" using the right directional button. Press the down directional button twice to choose "Aspect Ratio" and press the "OK" button. The full list of aspect ratio options will appear on the screen. Scroll to the aspect ration option you want using the directional buttons and press the "OK" button.
