Type a cents symbol on your Mac.
When filling in a spreadsheet or typing a document that requires you to mention an amount of money under a dollar, many users opt to simply write out the word "cents" because the cents symbol is not represented on the keyboard the way the dollar sign is. However, you can quickly and easily insert a cents symbol into your documents on a Mac.
Step 1
Type the number that is going to be followed by the cents symbol. Make sure that the cursor is located immediately to the right of the number.

Hold down the "Option" key, located at the bottom of the keyboard between the "Control" and "Command" keys.
Step 3
Press the "4" key while holding down the "Option" key. The cents symbol will appear on your screen.
