Garmin's Nuvi GPS models are designed to make it easier for you to navigate the world around you, but they can only be relied upon if your maps have been updated to the latest versions from Garmin. If you find that your Nuvi doesn't have enough free space for the most recent map update, you can free up a bit of space by removing unneeded files from the device. You'll be able to install your map updates as soon as there is adequate space on the Garmin Nuvi's hard drive.
Step 1
Connect your Nuvi device to your computer with a USB cable.

Open the "JPEG" folder. Delete any old or unused photographs from this folder. Return to the main Garmin folder when finished.
Step 4
Open the "Voice" folder. Delete any unwanted language packs from the Garmin device. Do the same in the "Text" folder. Do not delete the language or text packs associated with the language you speak.
Step 5
Return to the main Garmin folder and then open the "Vehicles" folder. Delete unused or unwanted vehicles from the device. Once you've deleted the files you should have enough space to install the map update.
