Hulu, the online video service, offers people access to free and subscription movies, shows, documentaries, trailers and other videos. When using the Hulu player, you may find the video slowing, pausing or cutting out entirely. Although this technical issue can result from a problem on Hulu's end, it usually stems from a problem with your computer setup or your Internet connection. Getting Hulu to stop cutting out requires that you systematically look at potential causes and make changes as needed.
Step 1
Check that the software on your computer meets Hulu's minimum software and bandwidth requirements. If the software doesn't meet the requirements, update the software or access Hulu using a computer that has the correct software. If the bandwidth doesn't meet the requirements, set up an Internet package with your ISP that gives you all the bandwidth you need.

Step 2
Move your computer closer to your router if you're accessing the Internet via a router. If this doesn't help, turn off the wireless and access the Internet with an Ethernet cable.
Step 3
Shut down computer applications that are using too many system resources. In addition, close out other applications that are using up bandwidth. If you're sharing the Internet connection and others are using too much bandwidth, ask them to shut down applications or not access the Internet when you're on Hulu.
Step 4
Use a different browser to watch Hulu. Sometimes the browser type or settings can cause Hulu to cut out -- especially if it has add-ons, widgets or toolbars that aren't compatible or are competing for system resources.
Step 5
Click the "Pause" button in the Hulu video player and then wait for the butter to fill -- as indicated by the word "Buffer" and five bars at the top center of the Hulu player screen. When it's full, try watching the video again.
