All genuine Microsoft Office software is issued a product key. This key is entered during the installation process to activate your software. If you purchase the software in a store, the product key is provided with the software. If your version of Office is pre-installed on a new computer, it is listed on a sticker on the bottom of your computer. If you do not have your product key and need to re-install your Office suite, you can use free software to find your product key.

Step 1
Go to the Magical Jelly Bean software website (see "Resources"). Click the link to download the KeyFinder software. Click "Run" to download the installation file.

Click "Run" to start the installation process. Click "Allow" if prompted for permission. Click "Next."
Step 3
Accept the terms of service. Click "Next." Choose a save location. Click "Next."
Step 4
Check the boxes if want to create desktop or quick launch icons. Click "Next."

Choose whether to install Uniblue RegistryBooster. Click "Next." Check the box to launch KeyFinder on exit. Click "Finish."
Step 6
Click your version of Microsoft Office in the left navigation pane. The product key displays in the right reading pane.
Product Key Finder
Step 1
Go to the CNET website and download Product Key Finder (see "Resources"). Click the "Download Now" button to download the installation file. Click "Run."
Step 2
Click "Run" to start the installation. A box pops up that shows your Office product key.
Step 3
Choose an option to "Save" or "Quit."
Keyfinder Pro
Step 1
Go to the Gearbox Computers website (see "Resources"). Click the link to "Download Now." Select "Run" to download the installation files.
Step 2
Click "Run" to being installation. A box appears that shows your Microsoft Office product key.
Step 3
Choose whether to "Save," "Print" or "Exit."
