Sony's Bravia KDL-40V4100 HDTV comes with a Skype application that lets you place Skype calls using your television. The television does not have a built-in camera or microphone, however, so you must connect a microphone and camera accessory to the HDTV in order to use the application. Sony Bravia televisions only work with Sony's first-party camera and microphone unit, but setting it up is as easy as plugging in a USB cable.
Step 1
Decide where you would like to position the camera and microphone unit. Sony recommends that you position the unit in one of three places: in front of the television, on top of the television or on the bottom center of the television. If your television is wall mounted, Sony only recommends attaching it to the top or bottom of the unit.

Step 2
Peel the plastic off of the hook and loop fastener adhesive backing on the bottom of the unit and place the unit on a stable surface in front of the unit if that is your position of choice. Do not place the device too close to the television, as this can cause interference. To avoid this, place the unit at least six inches in front of the television. Position the unit so that is in the center of the television's screen and press the unit in place to ensure that it does not move around.
Step 3
Peel the plastic off of the hook and loop fastener adhesive backing on the bottom of the unit and place the unit on the top or bottom of the television if you want to mount it on the television. Position the unit so that it is in the center of the television's screen and press the unit in place to ensure that it does not move around.
Step 4
Plug the unit's USB cable into the USB port on the side of the television. With the unit in place and USB cable connected, the microphone and camera unit is ready to be used with the Skype application.
