You can have cable throughout the house, but you can only enjoy the full benefits of your digital cable in the room that contains your digital cable box. If you want to watch digital cable in a different room, you will need to move your digital cable box. Being able to move your digital cable box isn't the biggest luxury in the world, but it can come in handy for the times you want to lie in bed watching digital TV but will need the box back in the living room when the big game is on to watch it on the big screen.
Step 1
Turn off the cable box. Make sure to completely turn off your digital cable box first as it is better to properly shut it down than to abruptly shut it off by unplugging it.

Step 2
Unplug the digital cable box from the electrical outlet.
Step 3
Unplug the coax cables from the back of the box. These cables are screwed on, so twist the connectors counterclockwise to loosen and remove them from the cable box. Now, disconnect the other side of the cable that's connected to the TV.
Step 4
Move the box to the room where you want it to be connected. Before lifting your digital box, it's important to take a couple of precautions to avoid lose wires swinging around and tripping you. Before moving the digital box, grab the coax cable that was connected to the TV and fold it up in your hand so it doesn't dangle. Do the same with the power cord. Once you have all the wires secured, lift the box and take it to the other room.
Step 5
Connect the box. First, connect the coax cable in your hand to the to the TV and the other side to the "Video Out" jack on the back of the digital cable box. Plug the cable wire from the wall into the "Cable In" jack located on the back side of the digital cable box. Plug the power cord into a nearby electrical outlet.
Step 6
Turn the cable box on and wait for it to load.
