The Sharp LCD remote control is prone to dirt and other contaminants getting inside the case, causing the buttons to stick. The Sharp's LCD remote must be disassembled in order to clean the inside of the case as well as the electronic components. The procedure requires the use of common household tools and will not damage the remote's operation capabilities in any way.
Step 1
Hold the Sharp LCD remote with the back facing up. Remove the battery compartment lid from the back with your fingers. Remove the batteries. Turn the remote over.

Step 2
Place the remote right side up on a table. Place the tip of a flat-edged jeweler's screwdriver into the seam between the upper and lower case at the upper left corner. Push the tip down the length of the remote until you reach the bottom.
Step 3
Push the tip across the bottom of the remote to the right side. Push the tip up the side of the remote to the upper right corner. Push the tip across the remote to the upper left side.
Step 4
Pull the upper case off the lower case with your fingers. Turn the upper case over. Remove the key membrane pad from inside of the upper case.
Step 5
Remove the screws from the circuit board inside the bottom case with the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver. Pull the circuit board towards you so that the top-mounted IR emitter clears the slot at the top of the bottom case. Pull the circuit board out of the bottom case.
