If you want to send a photo to a friend by email or if you want to upload a picture to a website, you sometimes need to modify the size of an image, either to reduce its file size or to meet certain size requirements. Paint, the graphics editor from Microsoft Corporation, allows you to change a picture's size by following just a few steps.
Step 1
Open your Windows Start Menu, click on "All Programs" and select "Accessories." Click on the "Paint" shortcut to launch the program.

Open your picture in Paint by clicking on the "Paint" menu and selecting the "Open" option. Locate your picture file on your hard drive and click on the "Open" button to open it.
Step 3
Select the "Home" tab at the top of the screen and click the "Resize" button. This will open a window which will allow you to resize your picture.
Step 4
Uncheck the "Maintain aspect ratio" check box. If you select this option, you will not be able to specify both a new width and a new height in pixels.
Step 5
Click on the "Pixels" radio button.
Step 6
Enter new values -- in pixels -- in the "Width" and "Height" fields. Then click on "OK." Paint will now resize your picture using the values that you have just entered.
Step 7
Press the "CtrlTRL" and "S" keys simultaneously on your keyboard to save your picture.
