Resetting a battery using the freezer serves as a do-it-yourself way to improve battery life. Though this method is mostly unproven, many people believe that keeping batteries in the freezer increases their maximum charge and slows the process of decay. According to the website Green Batteries, batteries lose their charge faster in hotter temperatures. In some cases, storing batteries in the refrigerator or freezer can drastically prolong battery life.
Step 1
Turn off your cell phone by holding the "Power" button. In older cell phones, this is typically the "End Call" button. Often it displays a red symbol of a telephone. Newer cellphones typically have a button specifically for power. Hold this button until the phone powers down.
