Having an Internet connection that is constantly going in and out is very frustrating, especially when you're trying to get work finished. In order to prevent a DSL connection from going in and out constantly, there are a few simple steps you will need to take.
Step 1
Check your modem. Be sure that everything is plugged in to the proper place. If this does not solve your problem, move on to step two.

Step 2
Reset your modem. On most modems, there is a reset button. If there is not, you should hold the power button until the modem shuts off, wait 30 seconds and turn it back on. If there are no power buttons or a reset button, you will need to unplug the adapter, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in.
Step 3
Run a virus, malware and spyware scan on your computer. Sometimes viruses and other computer problems can pose a threat to your internet connection. Remove any viruses that are present, restart your computer and try again.
Step 4
Check the network connections on your computer. Click "Start" or the Windows icon on your taskbar and open the Control Panel. Select the Network Connections. Be sure that there is a network created for your Internet connection. If not, you will need to set one up.
Step 5
Rewire your home. Often, small animals like squirrels, mice, and raccoons will chew on a wire. Even the smallest holes may cause a problem if any particles get inside of it. By rewiring your home, you are eliminating a huge potential problem so that you can rule it out. Usually, when no solution can be found, this one will solve it.
Step 6
Call your Internet service provider. Explain to that the Internet is disconnecting constantly and explain everything you've done in order to repair it. Do not fail to mention that you have rewired your home. Request that a technician come out to look at the wire and figure out what's wrong.
