If you are a customer of DirecTV, you may also take advantage of the parental controls featured with the service. You can set the parental controls with DirecTV to block and protect your children (or other household members) from viewing content you deem inappropriate. If you are unable to unlock your parental controls and do not have the password handy, there are a few steps you can take to resolve the issue and remove the parental controls.
Step 1
Turn your TV's channel to the one you are attempting to view. You parental control password and PIN screen will appear. If you have forgotten your PIN, you can try a few default DirecTV PINs such as "0000," "1234" and "1111." This may also unlock your parental controls.

Step 2
Locate information that has your DirecTV account number available. You can find your DirecTV account number on your monthly billing statement, or by logging in to DirecTV's website with your DirecTV username and password.
Step 3
Enter the last four digits of your DirecTV account number in the PIN box for the parental controls. Press "Enter" to try to unlock the channel. This may also allow access and bypassing of your previously set password.
Step 4
Call DirecTV directly at 800-531-5000 if the default PINs or the last four digits of your DirecTV account do not successfully activate your channels. You will need account information to verify your identification before a representative for DirecTV can help you. You can also reference your DirecTV manual, as each model and receiver can have different default PIN codes and numbers, depending on the make.
