PCSX2 is a free, open-source PlayStation 2 (PS2) software emulator for Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems. PCSX2 allows for PS2 discs to be played on a computer by utilizing the DVD drive. Action Replay is a cheat device developed by Datel that allows players to alter a game's code. Due to the way that Action Replay works on the PS2 console, it is not directly compatible with PCSX2. Before Action Replay codes can be entered into PCSX2, they must first be converted to RAW format.
Step 1
Download the MaxConvert archive from the Codemasters Project website. Extract the contents of the archive into the PCSX2 install folder.

Download the PCSXCE Patch File Converter archive from the PCSX2 website. Extract the contents of the archive into the PCSX2 install folder.
Step 3
Launch the MaxConvert application.
Step 4
Click on the "Input" drop-down menu and select "AR MAX." Click on the "Output" drop-down menu and select "Raw."
Step 5
Enter the Action Replay code into the Input window and press the "Convert" button.
Step 6
Copy the converted Raw code from the Output window and exit the MaxConvert application.
Step 7
Launch the PCSXCE program.
Step 8
Paste the converted Raw code into the Input window. Type the name of the game that this cheat belongs to into the Game Title field. Minimize the PCSXCE application window.
Step 9
Launch the PCSX2 application and run the game that this cheat belongs to. After the game loads, press the "Esc" key to view the log file. Record the eight digit CRC number located at the bottom of the log window. Minimize the PCSX2 application window.
Step 10
Return to the PCSXCE application window and type the CRC number in the CRC field at the bottom of the screen. Press the "Convert" button followed by the "Save" button to generate the cheat file. Exit the PCSXCE application.
Step 11
Return to the PCSX2 application window. Click on "System" in the main tool bar and select "Enable Cheats" from the drop-down menu. Select "Reboot CDDVD (full)" to reset the game and automatically load the cheat file.
