Many of our media devices, such as computers, digital cameras and MP3 players use USB connections, and now USB connections are made into TVs. USB compatible TVs allow you to connect thumb drives, external hard drives, MP3 players and digital cameras to your TV set without a third-party adapter. This will allow you to download a movie onto a thumb drive, then bring it directly to the TV and watch it without any hassle.

Step 1

Plug the USB device into the USB slot on the TV. The USB slot is located in the back of the TV with the other connection options. The USB slot on a TV is no different from the USB slots on your computer. Make sure the USB is fully plugged into the TV because a bad connection will result in your TV not being able to read your USB device.

Step 2

Plug the USB device into an electrical socket. Thumb drives and card readers do not need to be plugged into external power supplies but larger devices, such as hard drives and digital cameras, do.

Step 3

Turn the TV on and choose the USB input. TVs with multiple input connections, such as HDMI and VGA, have different input selections that allow you to easily toggle through connected devices. The contents of your USB device will not be displayed if you do not have the TV set to the USB input.
