In previous versions of Windows, such as Windows XP and Windows ME, the keyboard layout could be adjusted only using a pane in the Control Panel. Microsoft introduced an easier method for selecting keyboards with the release of Windows Vista and kept the feature with the release of Windows 7. Referred to as the Language Bar, the task bar item allows you to adjust both the language and the layout of your computer's keyboard.
