An Internet protocol (IP) address is a unique number assigned to a computer when it connects to the Internet. It consists of a series of numbers separated by periods (also called a "dotted quad"). There are two relatively easy ways to find the IP address of a business or organization.
Finding IP Address Manually

Click on "Start," then "Run" on your PC.

Type "cmd" in the text box and press "OK." You will be directed to the Command Prompt window, which may look similar to: "C:>" or "C:\Documents and Settings\User>."
Step 3
Type in the following information: "ping businesswebsite.com"
Step 4
Replace "businesswebsite.com" with the organization's actual domain name. Then press the "Enter" key. The IP address for the business will be displayed on your screen.
Step 5
Close out of the Command Prompt window to return to your main screen.
Finding IP Address Online
Step 1
Go to an IP address locator online (see Resources).
Step 2
Type in the website or domain for the business you're checking on.
Step 3
Press the "Enter" key to retrieve the company's IP address.
