Sometimes Windows Live Photo Gallery does not display the pictures you want to see. By default, the program detects all picture files in the Pictures library, but if you save your photos elsewhere, you might need to move them to another folder or import their folder to Photo Gallery. You can import pictures from elsewhere on the hard drive or from a removable media, such as a CD or external hard drive.

Step 1
Click the Windows 7 "Start" menu. Type "Photo Gallery" in the search box. Click "Windows Live Photo Gallery" in the search results. Photo Gallery will launch and display the last folder used.

Click the folders to display their contents. You can collapse a folder tree by clicking the arrow next to it. Click the folder containing the picture or pictures you wish to move.
Step 3
Click through the folders again, this time to find the destination folder where you want to move the picture. Do not click the folder. Just let it display in the folder tree.
Step 4
Click the picture you want to transfer in the right navigation pane. You should see thumbnail previews of the pictures in the picture's folder.
Step 5
Right-click and drag the file to the destination folder on the left pane. Choose "Move here" if you want to move the file and delete the original in the starting folder. Choose "Copy here" if you want to copy it and leave the original where it is.
Import Pictures
Step 1
Launch Windows Live Photo Gallery.
Step 2
Click the blue button with an arrow in the upper left of the Photo Gallery window. Click "Include folder."
Step 3
Click "Add." Click to select the folder containing the picture you want to display in Photo Gallery. Click "Include folder."

Click "OK." Photo Gallery will import the folder and all the pictures it contains in the Photo Gallery collection.
