Television sets have been commercially available since the 1920s. While in the past it was possible to change the channel using only the radial dial on the set, the television remote control has become a standard tool for managing the device's settings. However, from time to time, the remote goes missing, forcing you to find another way to control your set.
Step 1
Inspect the front and sides of your television to locate the buttons labeled "channel."

Press the up button if you want to go to a higher numbered channel. It will be marked with a plus (+) sign or an arrow pointing up.
Step 3
Press the down button if you want to go to a lower numbered channel. It will be marked with a minus (-) sign or an arrow pointing down.
